MuseBunny attacked me while I did the dishes. Rare enough of an occurrence that I just had to write it down. Enjoy! :) Now I need to get rid of this insomnia. And start job searching again. *sigh*
Title: In Trouble
Rating: G
Summary: A six year old Edward has just landed in big trouble at school. Why?
Genre: Gen. Traces of angst.
A/N:Rather a strange style. I was trying something a little more... experimental... I guess. Plus I wanted it to sound like it came from a child's point of view. Or like a children's book. So the bad grammar is deliberate. Or something. Yeah, that's it.
In Trouble
Edward Elric had punched someone for the first time when he was six.
"It wasn't my fault!" he had insisted shrilly to everyone. He then refused to let anyone near him for an hour, simply sulking in the far corners of the schoolyard.
His mother had been called in to the tiny one-room schoolhouse that served the town of Riesensburg and after anxiously conferring with Edward's teacher, had asked her oldest child why he had did it, a strange expression on her normally calm face.
Edward had pouted, stuck out his lower lip, and refused to answer. Even after his little brother, Alphonse, had made wobbly eyes at him and Mother had given him one of her long sad looks. Both of those things usually worked quite well.
Alphonse did not know why his brother had done it, he explained to everyone who would listen in a slightly panicked voice. He did not like punching after all. Or even fighting in general. Brother had been talking to those boys (who did have mean faces) and then they had said something. Something Al did not hear all that well.
Then Brother punched one of them.
In the end, Trisha Elric had collected both her sons and simply took them home. Despite the fact school didn't end for another whole two hours. She had made upset sighing sounds throughout dinner, Alphonse whimpered, and Edward refused to look at either of them. He did not sleep well at all that night. Most of it was spent tossing and turning. He still felt angry, and hurt...
Betrayed.
Where is your father, anyways?!
Is it true that he didn't even marry your Mother? You know what that makes you both, right...?
I bet he left because he hated you guys.
Bastards. Bastards!
The young blond scowled and snuggled against Alphonse, who thankfully tended to sleep much like a rock. As Ed drifted off to sleep, he murmured into his brother's shoulder and finally shut his eyes.
"We don't need him anyways! It's fine with just me, you, and her..."
It was. Really really.

Heh. FMA. Where else could there be more confusion over spelling of names? Even the same fansub groups had no consistency. :D
Oh and you are my first comment-er. Congrats! And Thanks! *happy squeal* :D
Took lots of illness, drugs, and work tho'.
Alphonse did not know why his brother had did it
Alphonse did not know why his brother had done it
And that's all I can find ^^
Sweet sweet fic ^___^ I feel really sorry for poor Ed, but I guess that's another reason for him to Hate Hoho. It was probably unusual to have a single parent family in those times.
*hugs*
And thank you again, I'm glad you like it!
I figured, rural farming community around the turn of the century... as wonderful of a place it is, they had to REALLY look down upon that sort of thing. The gossip really must have been flying.
I was looking for another reason for Ed to hate Hoho, beyond the obvious "Well, he left and didn't say 'by' to Mom before she died." Since Ed went from kinda disliking him to OMG MUST PUNCH ON SIGHT. And then the 'bastard' line popped into my head...
Hmm, I'm rambling now. XD
From what I hear, no, they weren't even married. So first, everyone must have gossiped about them moving in together w/o marrying, then she bears him two 'bastards', then the guy leaves, never to return.
You know the rumor mill was going full time, and it probably wasn't too kind on the Elrics.
Do it!!
I like this. I can see it happening, totally, what with Ed's temper and him wanting to protect his brother. Awww. Ed needs a hug! *hugs*

*wibbles* The cute!Aru love will kill me now. :D I love it though!
Reading through your older fics, btw-if I end up commenting twice, I apologize. I should get sleeep but I really don't feel like cleaning off my bed so I'll read your fic and be happpy~~
I'm glad, as always, to hear I'm being IC! :) *hugs Ed too* And that my Al was being cute...
I noticed... and it's cool. Actually, I'm DELIGHTED! These reviews were a pleasant surprise to wake up to! Thank you!
Hope you slept well... eventually.
:D I did sleep well, even if I was woken up in a sucky, sucky way.
But it's like 20x better educational-wise. And I love going there (since there are geeky kids and anime kids all over the place XD). However, my mom thinks that I need to go back to a religious enviroment, apparently, and she woke me up this morning with this news. Completely out of the blue. So I was -not- happy, cause school starts next week and if I have to switch...I'll be so pissed and upset.
T___T Sorry for the emo-ness~
I can't really understand that way of thinking, myself. I think learning and education is the most important thing. You can get religion from Church, home, and reading... School is for learning.
I hope she understands that. T_T That's really really rough!
I wish you all the luck!
D: I thought that she felt the same way....
well, I don't know what's up now. I think it was just an idle threat, cause she's hasn't mentioned it since then....
Thanks very much! ^___^ You made me feel a lot better, yo. :)
And I'm so glad to have helped. ^_^
